Thomas Zguris, MD, MBA, FACEP
President and CEO
A veteran physician, Dr. Zguris is responsible for overseeing NES Health’s service quality, people, and financial performance. He has served in many roles throughout his career, ranging from clinical ED doctor, to Site Medical Director, to Regional Medical Director while at Emergency Consultants, Inc., then later as Regional Director and Executive Vice President with EmCare, Inc. Dr. Zguris has a proven track record for strong financial and operational results as well as performance and quality improvements in the clinical arena. MoreBoard-certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Zguris is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has served on the Board of Directors for Tri-County EMS as well as the Board of Directors for National Guardian Risk Retention Group. Dr. Zguris received his MD degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He later received an MBA from The University of Phoenix.
Jennifer Moore, CPA, MBA, MHA
Chief Financial Officer
Jennifer began her career working for Arthur Andersen’s healthcare division (now Andersen Worldwide). She subsequently worked in various financial and operational capacities for several health care organizations, including a previous term with NES as Controller. MoreAfter earning her MBA and MHA at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Jennifer worked as Regional Market Manager for HCA’s North Florida Regional Medical Center. Subsequently, she served as System Controller for the Main Line Health System in Pennsylvania, which included three acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, a home health agency, hospice, and a primary care network. Jennifer is an accomplished financial manager with demonstrated success in financial operations and project management. She completed her BS in accounting at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts and is a licensed CPA.
Keri Gardner, MD, MPH, FACEP
National Director of Quality and Patient Safety
Dr. Gardner brings many years of quality management knowledge and clinical expertise to NES Health. Her responsibilities as National Director of Quality and Patient Safety include planning and implementing the ED quality assurance and performance improvement program at corporate client hospitals. MoreFor the past six years, Dr. Gardner has served as Director of Quality for hospitals ranging from the Alaska Native Medical Center to the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Her other key leadership roles include Medical Staff President for the Alaska Native Medical Center, County of Los Angeles Public Health Commissioner, and Chair of the Throughput Committee for the West Los Angeles Veteran’s Affairs Hospital. Dr. Gardener previously served as the lead physician at McMurdo Station in Antarctica and Indian Health Service facilities in South Dakota and Oklahoma. She has also spent much of her career in academia, as a faculty member at large academic hospitals such as Mount Sinai and UCLA. Of all Dr. Gardner’s accomplishments, she is most appreciative of receiving the Attending of the Year award by the Mount Sinai Department of Emergency Medicine residents. She is also proud of her trained therapy dog, Copper, who brings joy and comfort to hospital inpatients and staff.
Don Brock, DO, FACOEP, FACEP
Regional Medical Director
Dr. Brock is board-certified in emergency medicine as well as a diplomat of the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. In addition to his role at NES Health, Dr. Brock serves as Medical Director of Emergency Services for Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan. MoreDr. Brock has been an active member of the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine, both as a certifying examiner and a member of the Board of Directors. He has delivered national lectures and presentations on the topic of patient and customer satisfaction, been involved with community EMS and medical control activities, and has a particular interest in emergency department design and flow. As an expert in ED operations, Dr. Brock has worked with countless hospitals around the country to help them improve their operational efficiency.
Steven Wexler, MD, FAAEM
Regional Medical Director
Dr. Wexler has worked with NES Health as a Regional Medical Director for the past six years while also serving as Medical Director for Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, Connecticut. He previously worked as the Assistant Director and Quality Director for the Waterbury Hospital Emergency Department in Waterbury, Connecticut. MoreDr. Wexler previously served as Assistant Clinical Instructor for Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons while working as the Assistant Residency Director for the St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1993; completed his internship year in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, New York; and went on to finish his residency and chief residency in emergency medicine at Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx.
Jocelyn Bowman, MBA
Executive Director of Operations
With extensive management and leadership experience in the healthcare industry, Jocelyn works with NES Health’s Regional Presidents to oversee the operational and clinical management of contracts and to ensure profitability, client satisfaction, and strategic planning. For the past several years, she has managed a network of 18 emergency medicine physician practices, ranging from freestanding EDs to rural and urban trauma centers. MoreJocelyn’s areas of expertise include managing client relations, optimizing performance metrics, providing appropriate staffing to ensure contract profitability, and streamlining the ED flow to improve the overall patient experience. Her teamwork-focused leadership of practice management staff and multidisciplinary teams has resulted in quality improvement, greater patient satisfaction scores, and improved patient outcomes. Jocelyn’s passion for emergency medicine and desire to make a difference in healthcare environments is what motivates her. Jocelyn graduated from Maine Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology in Portland, Maine. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island and her MBA from the University of Phoenix in Plantation, Florida.
Beth Wiley, RN
National Director of Clinical Services
Beth Wiley has more than 35 years of experience in acute care nursing and leadership. In that period of time, she has served various healthcare organizations providing leadership and support in many different areas, including ambulatory, emergency, critical care, med-surg, and oncology. Using LEAN process improvement methodologies, Beth works to make the organization function better for the benefit of both patients and healthcare providers. MoreBeth has extensive experience working with CMS “Core Measures,” which are meaningful-use and best-practice standards established through Joint Commission and HFAP certifications. Her knowledge of various acute care departments has allowed for improvement opportunities in turnaround times for emergency departments. For NES Health clients, Beth’s role is to assist with accountability and follow-up on established care practices and to support our organization as a true partner in the delivery of excellence in emergency medicine.
